How to become a Family Home Provider

The Family Home Provider must be at least 18 years or older and have definite income adequate in caring for their own family’s needs. Also, you must be willing to accept a person as a member of your family. Family Home Providers with Northumberland Family Respite Services typically possess qualities such as sensitivity, maturity, good communication skills, patience, warmth, stability, adaptability and a sense of humour.

Potential providers are screened prior to acceptance in the Family Home Program. Some of the requirements include the provision of:
-current Police Check/Vulnerable Sector Check
  Children’s Aid Society Report
-Vaccination record
