Passport program changes effective Oct. 1, 2014

There are changes to the Passport program that come into effect on Oct. 1, 2014. Supports related to activities of daily living are now an allowable expense. This means that recipients can use their Passport funding for supports related to self-care such as:

  • assistance with personal hygiene and grooming
  • camps, classes, programs etc. that develop life skills such as literacy, managing money, and using public transportation

The limit that a Passport recipient can spend on person-directed planning has changed and is now up to $2500 yearly.

The guidelines provide a list of allowable expenses with examples, as well as those that are not allowed under the program.
